Global Healthcare Medical GHM STD US Sexually Transmitted Disease Rapid Test (FIA) is a fluorescence immunoassay (FIA) designed for the qualitative and differential detection of multiple sexually transmitted disease pathogens from human whole blood, serum, or plasma samples. The test is used as an aid in the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Sandwich Immunodetection Method – Fluorescence Immunoassay Principle

The GHM STD US uses a sandwich immunodetection method. When the sample is added to the sample well of the test device, fluorescence-labeled detector antibodies or antigens bind to target STI pathogen antigens or antibodies in the sample. As the sample mixture migrates on the nitrocellulose matrix of the test strip by capillary action, the complexes of detector and target are captured by immobilized capture antibodies or antigens at specific test lines on the strip. Thus, the more target antigen or antibody in the specimen, the more complexes accumulate on the test strip. The signal intensity of the fluorescent signal reflects the amount of target captured, and the FIA Analyzer displays the qualitative test result.
