The Zoncare Ucan is a handheld, wireless color Doppler ultrasound system engineered for point-of-care, emergency, critical care, and procedural guidance applications. It moves acquisition, processing, and display into a pocket-sized probe that transmits images wirelessly to iOS, Android, or Windows smart devices—removing the cart, the cable, and the dedicated examination room from the imaging workflow.

The Ucan series incorporates wireless transmission control, point-by-point emission focus, multi-channel signal acquisition, and AI-aided diagnosis into a single handheld platform. The system supports multiple frequency bands across a wide bandwidth range, covering superficial to deep tissue and organ display from a single probe ecosystem. Five probe configurations are available—C10 Convex (C2–5) , C20 Linear (L4–12) , C30 Phased Array (P2–5) , C40 Micro-convex (M2–5) , and C50 High-Frequency Linear (L6–14)—supporting abdominal, cardiac, vascular access, musculoskeletal, nerve block, thyroid, breast, FAST, and procedural guidance applications.

The Ucan connects to the clinician's smart device over Wi-Fi without a proprietary display or console, and supports B, B/M, Color Doppler, PDI (Power Doppler Imaging), and PW (Pulse Wave) Doppler imaging modes. AI-assisted tools include auto-trace, auto-IMT recognition and measurement, one-key auto-optimization, one-key full screen, and needle enhancement for in-plane and out-of-plane punctures.

Regulatory status: The Ucan series holds China NMPA registration for clinical ultrasound diagnostic examination via body-surface probes, and is not applicable in ophthalmology. Zoncare states that its products are NMPA-certified, with some products also holding CE, FDA, and ANVISA registrations depending on the model and market; the specific regulatory status of each Ucan probe should be confirmed before purchase. No FDA 510(k) clearance specific to the Ucan model name was identified in the public FDA database during preparation of this page. No independent peer-reviewed clinical validation study specific to the Ucan was identified in the public literature during preparation of this page. Availability, labeling, and cleared claims vary by market.

Key Features & Benefits

Pocket-Sized Wireless Probe with Smart Device Display

The Ucan eliminates the console. The probe contains the transducer array, signal acquisition, and wireless transmission electronics, and streams images to the clinician's iOS, Android, or Windows phone or tablet over Wi-Fi. Unlimited simultaneous audio and video transmission with zero delay and zero lag is referenced in Zoncare's documentation, supporting real-time image review during procedures and bedside assessment. The system is positioned for emergency medicine, anesthesiology, interventional procedures, rehabilitation, ICU, and pain management, where a cart-based system would be impractical.

Five Probe Configurations for Superficial-to-Deep Imaging

The Ucan ecosystem covers five probe types across a broad frequency range:

Probe Type Frequency Range Typical Applications
C10 Convex C2–5 Abdominal, obstetrics, deep structures
C20 Linear L4–12 Vascular access, MSK, superficial structures
C30 Phased Array P2–5 Cardiac, FAST, thoracic assessment
C40 Micro-convex M2–5 Pediatric, neonatal, cardiac, abdominal
C50 High-Frequency Linear L6–14 Superficial MSK, nerve, thyroid, breast

The multi-band switching supports tissue and organ display from superficial to deep within a single probe family, reducing the need for multiple systems in a point-of-care setting.

AI-Assisted Tools for Efficient Workflow

The Ucan includes AI-aided diagnosis and a suite of one-key automation tools: auto-trace for spectral measurement, auto-IMT recognition and measurement for carotid assessment, one-key auto-optimization for image preset activation, and one-key full screen for an expanded imaging area. Needle enhancement supports in-plane multi-angle punctures and out-of-plane central punctures, positioning the system for ultrasound-guided vascular access, nerve blocks, and biopsy procedures.

IPX7 Waterproof Housing with 128/192-Element Array

The Ucan is built with a sealed, waterproof (IPX7) high-grade composite polymer housing, supporting cleaning and use in demanding clinical environments. The 128/192-element transducer array provides the channel count behind the system's imaging performance, and the point-by-point emission focus and multi-channel signal acquisition architecture support resolution across the imaging field.

Broad Clinical Application Coverage

The Ucan is positioned for vascular access (PICC placement, haemodialysis arteriovenous fistula puncture guidance and post-operative monitoring), MSK (plastic and aesthetic, rehabilitation, rheumatology, sports medicine), nerve block (anesthesia, pain), thyroid and breast (puncture and ablation guidance), FAST (thoraco-abdominal injury evaluation), and cardiovascular prevention screening. The C30 phased array supports cardiac applications, and the C40 micro-convex supports pediatric and neonatal imaging where a smaller footprint is required.
